Simple Eye Makeup Remover Review

First thing before I move on to the review, I want to apologise for the lack of post. I’m back to university which means I get a lot of assignments. Now that it’s slowing down a bit, I could spare some time to write this post. I will try to manage my time better so I could post here regularly because honestly, I miss posting on this blog a lot. Thank you for understanding J. Now let’s continue to the review.

I’ve been a loyal user of Maybelline Eye & Lips Makeup remover for about 3 years. I love it because it’s cheap and does its job quite nicely. But, I decided to try out some other eye makeup removers out there. First brand that I chose was Simple because I’ve been quite satisfied with their products and it’s safe for sensitive eyes (I don’t think I have sensitive eyes, but better safe than sorry right?). It also claims to be able to remove waterproof mascara, which is something that I really look for since I wear waterproof mascara almost every day. It was RM 19.90 (about $5.50) from Watsons.

First thing that I like, other than the price that is quite affordable, is it doesn’t leave your skin feel oily. It feels almost like pure water when I used it to remove my eye makeup. It also doesn’t have artificial perfume or colour, which is a good thing because I don’t want anything especially with artificial perfume near my eyes. Other thing is, it claims to have 2 vitamins in it, which are pro-vitamin B5 (listed as Panthenol) and vitamin E (listed as Tocopheryl Acetate). I don’t really know my science, but I know that those two things are good for your skin. Who doesn’t want to remove their makeup and also give some vitamins to their skin? For me, this is an additional point for this product.

Sadly, I don’t think this product actually works for removing my eye makeup. I put a few drops of this on a cotton pad, press it gently on my eyelids for a few seconds, and then I swiped it across my eyelids. Nothing other than a few flakes of my waterproof mascara came out. After a few swipes, I finally managed to get my mascara off my lashes. But still, it left me with panda eyes.

So I would say that I’m not quite satisfied with it. Here’s to continuing the journey of finding the perfect eye makeup remover!

Which eye makeup remover would you recommend?

  1. Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog and thank you for this review! I thought it was going to be a good product judging by all the publicity on youtube. It's good to know it doesn't do a good job at removing mascara.

    1. You're welcome! :)
Yeah, I expected it to be really good. Too bad that it didn't really work for me

  2. Hey hey~! :) Do you hold and press it on your eyes for a few seconds or like 1 minute or so? Because sometimes it works better if you press it down for a longer period of time. I use the Lancome one and even with that I have to hold down for around 30 secs to get all my mascara off and then a few rubs here and there. No panda eyes at least! Lol :) But I'm glad you did this review - I almost bought it the other day. haha :)

    1. When I held it down for about 30 secs, it did remove my mascara from my eyelashes. But, then the mascara was transferred to my under eye area and left me with panda eyes. I needed to use another makeup remover to clean it up

    2. Oh dear!! Lol I can spare some money now haha. And definitely don't want panda eyes... although my dark circles don't help in any way :/ Haha I think I need a dark circle remover more than an eye makeup remover :L

Did you use the Maybelline Eye&Lips remover to remove the smudged bit? So the simple remover didn't remove the smudged bit itself? Because I thought like even if it gives you panda eyes, gently rubbing it off with the same remover should do its job. I don't use mascara that much so I only just use whatever I came across haha :D

    3. ME TOO! I'm in search for a good eye cream lol
No, I'm using Nivea Pure & Natural cleansing lotion to remove it. I've tried using the simple remover to remove the smudged part, but it didn't budge :s

    4. That's just silly for a remover haha :L Eye cream? I only use the No7 eye cream! Lol, it's great though! Improves my dark circles quite a lot! But I believe my sleeping habits don't help haha

    5. I've heard a lot about No7 but I think we don't have it here in Malaysia. So sad :(

  3. I think it is really hard to find the perfect eye makeup remover. I have been pretty satisfied with LUSH's ultrabalm for a while though!

    1. I'm seriously intrigued by Lush's products. But we don't have it here in Malaysia. I think the only way to get it is from online shop but I'd prefer to test it out in stores first before buying it :s

  5. Great review and this is particularly helpful since I'm looking for a new eye makeup remover! Mine kind of hurts my eyes and I need one that works really well at removing my mascara. It's good to know that I should not be trying this one out. I guess I'm still on the hunt. Let me know if you find a good one!
